Sands Wedding

September 13, 2009

Well, if you checked the last blog post, you may have gotten a really good look at a muddy tooshie.  Just so everyone knows, the owner of said toosh cleans up real nice.  Just get a look at that handsome couple above.  I LOVE this picture – it’s a good representation of their youthful spirit!

Explore Portland. We left off saying good night after a long Saturday.  I guess that takes us to Sunday morning.  Don and I had grand plans of renting some bikes and exploring the city on two wheels while the girls got their hair and make-up done, but Mother Nature had other plans.  She can be quite the trickster.  We must’ve walked from our hotel to the bike rental shop about 3 times, and each time we got there, it started to rain.  Not for terribly long, but long enough that it looked like it had legs and might last a while.  By our third attempt, Don and I called her bluff and went riding anyway.

We rode along the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, which runs along the west bank of the Willamette River. The park plays host to several festivals throughout the year, and provides some terrific views.

Krissy’s Wedding. Drum roll, please.  It’s now time for the main event:  Jon and Krissy’s wedding at Stafford Vineyards in Wilsonville, Oregon!  It’s about 25 minutes south of the hotel, so they chartered buses to haul everyone down.  Which was a good idea for a lot of reasons, not the least of which being the maze of a route it took to get there – half of the guests would never’ve made it had they been left to their own devices, I’m sure.  But as is often the case, the more remote the setting, the more unspoiled!

This photo shows the vineyard on the left, and Krissy’s uncle’s house on the right.  The tent is just behind the trees and shed on the far right, which overlooks a ravine and more vineyards on the horizon.

There are a lot of good photo-ops out here, and everyone’s shutter fingers were going crazy!

Due to the finicky rain, everything was held in this tent.  As tents go, it was beautiful.

Signature drink: Mango Mojitos.  Mmm mmmm, yummy!

The or’dourves were dynamite, and these were particularly picture worthy.  Cones with creme fraiche and ahi tuna.

The tables were beautifully appointed with dozens of variations of white and green flowers.  While I haven’t officially confirmed this, I’m assuming this was the work of Krissy’s Mom, Monna.  She’s got a knack for this stuff.

I assume this one speaks for itself.

Bride, Cousin, Sister

Don’t look now, Lea, but they just put out a candy table.  Try to show some restraint!

And, like Lea’s candy stick, this post is done.  This was a beautiful wedding, second only to our own. 🙂  Jon and Krissy – thanks for the invite and we hope to catch up with you when you’re back in the city!

Cheers!
