SATURDAY: Meet The Prines

Usher – OMG

Alright…it’s time for the main event.  Matt and Steph’s wedding day!

I was up by 8am, ready to pick-up Lea at the airport after her 23 hour red-eye flight from Hong Kong, which she only took so that she could be in town for this wedding!  As our friend Kristen put it, she wins the Wife of the Year award.  Then the text came through – her flight was delayed in Chicago due to poor weather in Des Moines (remember, ‘di-moin‘).  Then another text for another delay; and then a third.  Because timing was tight, I really didn’t have much choice but to don my tux and run a few pre-wedding errands.

Errand 1 – Stock coolers with adult beverages for the trolley ride after the ceremony.

Errand 2 – Pick-up Tasty Tacos for lunch!  (This checks off another stop on my culinary tour of home).  Deep fried flour tortillas, stuffed with shredded beef, lettuce and melty cheese!  They don’t make ’em like this in Mexico…

When Lea’s flight eventually arrived, she got back to the house at 12:45pm, got ready for the wedding and made it to the church (20 minutes away) by 1:30!  It was a bit of a dash to the ceremony, but all was well and Matt and Steph got hitched without a hitch! Wish I had a few pics from the trolley ride, because it.was.awesome!  The champagne was flowing and everyone was on high.

The reception was held at Echo Valley Country Club.  Beautiful.

I don’t remember whose idea it was to break out the tequila, but it provided just the right amount of liquid courage to move us all out onto the dance floor.

Looking fresh to def…

We were all sweating our tuckuses off.

Here, Morgan demonstrates some of the more advanced techniques of the New Jersey fist pump.  We were all really impressed.

Most of the gray hairs left before the very end of the reception – except for those on Steph’s side of the family.  They hung around because they knew what was coming.  It’s a Greek wedding tradition to close out the party with a Greek dance.  We were all feeling the love.

I have only vague memories of these.

Wow, wow, wow.  Awesome day.  I was so honored to be part of Matt’s wedding, and I’d do it all over again tomorrow if he asked me too.  Let’s do something like this again soon!  Love you guys.
