Farewell Friends Party
August 6, 2010
So, I know this is out of order because I already said “goodbye” to San Francisco in my last post, but our friends Kelly and Conner threw a going away party for us that can’t go without blogging about.
Kelly, if I haven’t said it already, is the hostess with the mostest. The girl knows how to entertain. Everything always looks beautiful, and even more, I’ve watched her cook. The entire thing is so fluid, she makes it look effortless. I’d swear she was being as lazy as me, except that she somehow manages to make some incredible dish right before my eyes without my noticing.
Things got kicked off on the deck with some cocktails, and JP was soon at work shucking his Brentwood sweet corn. Meanwhile, Kevin, Lea’s former manager and everyone’s networking guru, was bringing us up to speed on the latest in eCom marketplace strategies.
These naked chefs were having too much fun making Kelly’s enchiladas – a family recipe, so I don’t have to tell you it’s legit.
She also prepped a great steak side, and JP’s Cuban corn must’ve had a death wish, looking that tasty.
As far as wine goes, the boys brought out the big guns. This is about the best one can hope to drink in an evening. I hate to pick a favorite, particularly given how spectacular the Beringer Cab was, but the Wolf Blass Shiraz was my favorite of the night. And I have to give a special shout out to the Stag’s Leap Chardonnay for its glass stopper (sans cork – pictured with Conner near the top of this post). None of us had ever seen this before. Not even Jared, who opens more bottles of wine in a week than a Napa Valley tasting room.
Dinner is served!
Followed by ginormous individual servings of the most decadent desert (yes, even more decadent than the chocolate on chocolate cake we had at LeAnn’s house).
I don’t mean to blowup Kelly’s spot and share her secret, but the world should know!
The night wouldn’t be complete without a dance party.
What made the night great was the people. Smart, good looking folks with an appreciation for life and all of its nuanced treasures. Whether it was remarking on everyone’s favorite tree in the yard (and why), or the way the moon shined at night, everyone understood the moment. Thank you, friends! We’ll miss you, but know that we’ll see you soon.
Cheers!
